Expo 1998 Lisbon
1998, the year of the 500th anniversary of Vasco da Gama's trip to India, was also the year in which the city of Lisbon hosted the International Specialized Exhibition on the theme: "Oceans, a legacy for the future". The objective of this Exhibition was to "propose a new ethic in the relations between man and his natural environment and to contribute to raising awareness of respect for the oceans.”
The Monaco Pavilion 1998
The 650 sqm Monaco Pavilion was designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte who, through a bluish seabed atmosphere, allowed visitors to walk through the pavilion as if he were walking through the past, the present and the future of the Principality of Monaco.
Two main rooms, one in tribute to HSH Albert I, man of science and pioneer in oceanography, the second presented Monegasque involvement in the protection of the marine environment. The visit ended with the screening of “Save the sea”, a film produced in computer-generated images.
